Decisive Action and Sustainable Results: Effective Consulting Strategies

Time is money, and when you take too long to make a decision, it can hurt your company. However, when you're tasked with deciding something outside of your realm, it can be hard to know which decision is right. Hi, my name is Jennifer. I am a dentist and own my own clinic. Initially, I thought I would be doing things such as filling cavities and doing root canals. However, I quickly learned I had an entire business to run. I had to juggle a lot of things that were never discussed at school. From hiring great employees to filing my taxes and to using accounting software, I had to learn a lot. I also learned when to have a consultant guide me toward the right decision. If you want to learn about the power of consultancy and the value of decisive action, you have come to the right blog.

Acoustical Control: Reducing Noise in Interior Spaces

Jeremiah Lucas

The common sources of noise in residential areas include road traffic, car alarms, barking dogs, construction projects and commercial premises. These acoustical disturbances create uncomfortable conditions which will limit normal activities like sleep and conversation. The noise can also affect your health by inducing headaches, promote fatigue and raise stress levels. Ideally, it is advisable to engage acoustical consultants to help you create a custom plan for noise control. However, you can improve the interior conditions and reduce the disturbance without professional assistance by installing some simple noise control measures.

Walls and Windows

Windows and walls contribute to noise inside the house, so you should target these areas during your sound reduction project. The easiest method to reduce disturbances is to cover the windows with curtains made using heavy fabrics. Thick draperies are able to absorb sound waves so they will promote significant sound reduction. Ideal fabrics for this project include brocade, velvet as well as suede. You can also purchase special insulated thermal draperies which will improve both thermal and acoustical insulation. Additionally, you should hang large tapestries on the walls or covering the surfaces with thick decorative fabric.

Floors

Floors can amplify noise in internal spaces, especially when the surfaces made from materials such as laminate, wood and even light tiles. These features will induce echoes and intensify the noise flowing from external and even internal sources. You can reduce the acoustical detriments by installing thick padding beneath the carpets. This will help in muffling the sounds within the house. However, if you do not want to install the padding on your floor or you have a tight budget, you can install simple rugs. Ensure that they are cushy and plush for improved sound reduction.

Furniture

If you have residential rooms that tend to promote the flow of noise from one area to another, consider using your furniture to improve the conditions. Large-sized sofas, couches and ottomans which are upholstered can reduce the flow of sounds within the interior spaces. Ideally, they should be covered with plush fabrics such as suede, microfiber materials, chenille and even corduroy to encourage audio absorption. You can maximise sound reduction by adding textured pillows as well as furniture throws. If you have an open floor plan, you should consider installing a freestanding space divider and screen with textile panels. These structures are fabricated for portability, so you can move them as required.

These measures will reduce noise levels but if you want a permanent solution, you should consider installing acoustic insulation plasterboard.
